TIMELINE

BACKGROUND RESEARCH

COGNITIVE MAPPING
BACKGROUND THEMES
After compiling the initial round in data, I saw that there were connections between many areas of the user's needs. I created a cognitive map with color denoting levels of proximity to the overall theme of "Wearable Sports Tech." This allowed our team to focus on a specific major theme and further explore it.

DESIGN DIRECTION
Based on the data that we were able to collect, we collated a list of eight themes that are present
when technology is present in collegiate athletics.

PERSONAS

Our team created 10 initial personas, with each member creating two. These two are the ones I created, and the ones that we chose to use in the next stages of our research.

IDEATION: SKETCHES

IDEATION
Our team decided to each produce 10 possible design solutions to our user's main problems. I drew these
sketches as initial ideas from which to move forward.

THEMES
All of our design ideas revolved around athletic accessories, so my team decided to pursue that with the creation of a type clothing that would inform athletes with real-time information and statistics.
PHYSICAL PROTOTYPING

PROCESS
To create a physical prototype of our vision, I created a rough sketch of the outfit parts. I then cut and sewed them together, and created a gray bodysuit.

DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
After creating this initial version of the suit, my team all tried it on and gave this feedback:
- The cut of normal leggings must be implemented for fabric strength
- Mobility is needed in all directions
- The longsleeves may be an issue if practicing in heat
APP USER FLOW & WIREFRAMES
APP REQUIREMENTS
Our team had three major functions that we wanted the app to handle for the athletes. (Highlighted on the user flow)
-
The ability to look at past workouts and body strength
-
Real-time data on muscle firing
-
Easy connection to the clothing

BASIC APP FLOW
This user flow lead me to create a very basic clickable prototype that was the inspiration for the final app. It can be viewed here

FINAL PROTOTYPE
HIGH FIDELITY APP
Although time constraints did not allow for user testing, out team continued to work on the initial app design.
We decided to create an app that primarily demonstrated that the clothes gave real-time feedback while working out.
